Past work and the experience behind it: how the energy of an event becomes an original painting.

a 50th wedding anniversary

HOW THE WORK COMES TO LIFE

Every moment here comes from one celebration: a couple's 50th wedding anniversary, from the quiet room to the finished painting.

A sunlit hall with vaulted white beams, round tables, and a sweetheart table with red and white roses
01The AtmosphereEvery event has its own light, color, and pace. This is where the inspiration begins.
02Before the First StrokeThe first layer of light goes down while I observe the people, the movement, and the details that define the day.
03Painting in Real TimeThe scene is interpreted live, through my own eye and style, while the occasion unfolds around the easel.
04Part of the RoomThe easel becomes another way to experience the event, visible to anyone who wanders over to watch it take shape.

FIFTY YEARS, ONE DANCE

The couple's dance to live mariachi became the heart of the painting, unveiled before the night was over.

A camera screen showing the anniversary couple dancing in front of mariachi musicians
THE MOMENTThe couple dancing to live mariachi, the moment that became the center of the painting.
THE REVEALThe veil lifts, and the evening is there on canvas.
A finished live painting of a couple's anniversary dance with mariachi musicians, on an easel at night
THE PAINTINGAcrylic on canvas: the music, the room, and the two of them at the center.

A WEDDING RECEPTION

The space that inspired the work, and the original painting it became.

A wedding reception ballroom with ivory ceiling drapery, a crystal chandelier, and tables set in black and gold
THE ROOMIvory drapery, candlelit chandeliers, and the dance floor waiting for the couple.
A bride and groom standing beside Chaleuh and the finished live painting of their first dance on an easel
THE PAINTING AT THE RECEPTIONThe couple beside their painting, the same drapery and dance floor interpreted in paint.

BACK IN THE STUDIO

After the reception, I brought the painting back to my studio to complete it with finishing touches. Here it is mid-refinement, with the faces, drapery, and light coming into focus.

The wedding reception painting in the studio, refined with more detail in the couple, the drapery, and the chandelier light
In progress in the studio: more detail in the couple, the drapery, and the chandelier light.

A GARDEN WEDDING

Sunflowers, golden blossoms, and one glance between two people. Started live at the wedding, finished in the studio.

A bride and groom with sunflowers standing beneath a tree of yellow blossoms
THE MOMENTThe couple beneath a tree in full yellow bloom, sunflowers on the lapel and in the bouquet.
Acrylic painting of the bride and groom beneath golden blossoms, the gown traced in gold vines
FINISHED IN THE STUDIOAcrylic on canvas: the gold of the day turned brighter, and the gown traced in gilded vines.

THE FINISHING TOUCHES

I began this painting live at the wedding, then brought it back to my studio to complete it, refining every detail into a lasting original.
